So I don't think this is anything really new. It is just the amount of money. I don't really know how it works but I assume the money is coming from boosters and. I'm a bit older than you. I remember when it was practically a crime to give an an athlete money for food or to pay for a plane ticket go home for the holidays. As for Trump winning the Time Person of the Year award it is not always for something good. After all Hitler and Stalin got the award

BTW—someone concerned with the decline of journalism surely will devote 3000+ words next week on the comically inept and unethical practices of ProPublica.

“When Donald Trump says his favorite book is the Bible, then refuses to cite a single passage … well, you get the idea.”

Jeff is definitely as concerned with the lack of curiosity for man named Will Thomas still brandishing a fully equipped cock saying he is a woman and dominating actual women in NCAA swimming. And many more like him. “Him” being Will Thomas.

“So I left Twitter, joined TikTok—and am loving, loving, loving the storytelling modus. It’s fun and light and free of the Twitter hate.”

Jeff conveniently leaves out the hate taken to a whole new level on EchoSky where jubilant celebrations continue unabated over a cold blooded murder. Not coincidentally I have had an account banned there every single day this week except today. Don’t worry, it’s coming. Odd behavior from self appointed “anti-Fascists”.

“…Dr. Soon-Shiong told the opinion department’s leaders that the editorial could not be published unless the paper also published an editorial with an opposing view.”

Which begs the question, why does this distress Jeff so much? What’s the problem with an opposing POV? Nothing of course except Jeff and his ilk literally can’t fathom any other way to practice journalism than to offer Democratic Party propaganda. It’s all they’ve known since college and it drives them quite batty to be challenged.

“It just feels like democracy no longer actually matters to the modern GOP—and America will pay the price.”

Democracy being so long as you vote for Democrats. Jeff has no patience for duality in democracy. Related, the state of California is STILL counting (conjuring) votes 5 weeks later and stealing seats at all levels. I’m sure that will headline Jeff’s column next week.

“…but it was a comment beneath the story that made me go, “Daaaaaamn”

That comment? Eagerly awaiting Trumps literal demise. Good thing he doesn’t run a health insurance company I guess.

“Marc Benioff is the owner of Time Magazine, kneeling before an aspiring authoritarian. I am truly concerned by this behavior, because so many in media are now following suit and surrendering to the king.”

Other Time men (or person) of the year include: FDR (3 times), JFK, LBJ (twice), Jimmy Carter (🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣), Bill Clinton (twice), Barack Hussein Obama (twice).

This is Trumps second time as well. You’ll find every President elected has been given this distinction. It’s not “kneeling down”, it’s acknowledging reality.

“Donald Trump only hires the best people—so it’ll surprise the 47th president when he learns his choice to serve as a Middle East adviser is actually a flimflam artist who hasn’t accomplished shit.”

I looked for Jeff’s column excoriating Biden selecting Kamala Harris as his running mate who is both dumber than shit and hadn’t accomplished shit other than be born with some pigmentation. I couldn’t find it though.

Great column though.

This is why you are my favorite (Sports and More) journalist. Thanks Jeff for keeping the eye on the ball in what has happened to college sports.
