Bravo for writing this! This is the column that every young blogger with an opinion who hopes to become welcomed by PR reps and agents into press conferences and locker rooms should read and heed. Unfortunately, many/most of these kids are happy enough publishing and getting feedback without ever being hired to cover a beat.
Writing a book is hard (as it has been mentioned in virtually every acknowledgement section of every book ever created). Anybody that completes one--especially a memoir--should not be considered a failure.

Always love your posts Jeff. Such a shame to see a young writer with clear ability and doggedness get sucked into that horrible eco-system.
